We provide an engaging and creative curriculum which encourages independent thinking, enquiring minds and enjoyment for learning both inside and outdoors.
The nursery routines, adult interactions and areas of provision inside and outdoors support children to develop their relationships with others, develop their physical skills and increase their knowledge and skills in personal, social and emotional development, communication and language, literacy, maths, understanding the world and creative development. Stories, mathematical knowledge and understanding and the natural world lie at the core of teaching and learning, promoting curiosity, deepening understanding and supporting the growth of knowledge and skills across the curriculum.
Personal, social and emotional development underpins all teaching and learning and is explicitly taught with adult modelling, high expectations for behaviour and relationships with peers and adults in nursery. Focus lessons such as circle time, turn taking during discussions, expectations for how children work and play are all part of our learning journey to develop children's personal, social and emotional development, characteristics of effective learning and understanding of the world.
Our curriculum includes ambitious plans for children based on our knowledge of what they need to know in order to be ready for school. Developing essential skills and effective learning behaviours helps children to love learning and succeed. Children's own passions and interests further enhance learning opportunities in nursery and add a richness to children's play.
We comply with the statutory Early Years framework; our long term plans detail our themes for learning across a well planned, broad and balanced curriculum. We teach children to share their ideas for learning and to talk about their interests. This informs our planning and ensures the children engage well in their learning.
The EYFS curriculum plans set out an ambitious and engaging entitlement for all children in nursery which is further enhanced by responsive planning linked to children’s interests and experiences and in the moment opportunities. The intent and implementation of the curriculum clearly focusses on readiness for learning – all children rapidly developing effective learning behaviours and a capacity to learn, remember, enquire and be inspired.
