Newsletter 8th July 2022

Friday, 8 July 2022

Hello

I hope that this finds you all well and enjoying the warm weather – it would appear that we’re going to be in for a heat wave over the weekend and into next week! With that in mind, please do remember to send your child in with a hat and ensure that shoulders are covered (no strappy dresses/tops please). It would also be great if you could apply sun cream before they come to school.

Year 6 SATs results

A huge well done to our amazing year 6 children! Such fabulous results and well above the percentages for Leeds and Nationally. We are all so proud of the hard work that you’ve put in throughout your time at Spring Bank – it has really paid off! A massive thank you too to all the staff who have taught, worked with and supported the children in Year 6 this year.

School disco

A massive thank you to all the parents and staff who helped out with Reception and KS1 disco last night. It was a huge success and the children had a fantastic time and were all brilliantly well-behaved. It was particularly fun watching them all do the conga and of course singing along to songs from Encanto!

The KS2 disco is on Thursday 21st July 6.15pm – 7.15pm. I will be sending out forms next week for Year 5 and 6 as to which children will be allowed to walk home on their own. Year 3 and 4 children must be collected.

Next year

You will no doubt have seen our Chair of Governors’ Robin Phelan’s letter about next year which explains that Miss Houldsworth will be Acting Head for September 2022. I know that you are keen to know who your child’s teacher will be next year. We are in the final stages of formalising this and I will be sending out the teaching structure next week. The children are having their transition in to their new class on Thursday 21st July so you will know ahead of this who your child’s teacher is going to be in September. We should also be able to let you know what the support staff structure will look like too.

Reports

We have now finished the end of year reports and these will be going out to all parents on Monday 18th July 2022. We will also be sending out your child’s attendance for the academic year.

Health and Sports Week

Children will need to come in their PE kit all week. Please also ensure that they have a hat and water bottle as they are going to be outside a lot next week and the weather is looking very hot!

Sports Day

Thursday 14th July

KS2 Sports Day from 9.20/30am. Parents are free to wait until this starts but we would ask that you don’t go on to the pitch if you are waiting.

KS1 and Reception Sports Day from 1.15/30pm so parents can start arriving from 1.00pm, again please don’t wait on the pitch.

Refreshments will be provided by our fantastic PTA (strawberries, drinks etc).

The dance competition is on Friday and I know that we have lots of excited children already practising for this!

Attendance:

Whole school attendance:  91.38%

Reception – 91.67%

Year 1 – 88.52%

Year 2 – 92.69%

Year 3 – 88.97%

Year 4 – 96.33%

Year 5 – 85.94%

Well done to Year 4 with the highest attendance this week you get to keep Attendance Ted.

Please do make sure that your child/ren are coming to school every day unless they have tested positive for Covid 19 or are otherwise unwell. We are still working hard right up to the end of term and it is important that children don’t miss out on this learning.
