NEWSLETTER 25TH MARCH 2022

Friday, 25 March 2022

Hello

An email sent with more lovely weather this week! I hope that you’re all doing well and that you’re all ready for the clocks to go forward an hour this morning (although losing an hour of sleep on mothering Sunday seems a little unfair to me!)

Attendance and punctuality:

Whole school attendance this week: 92.10% (this is a drop from last week – it would be great if we could get this up again next week towards our target of 96.5%)

Reception: 92.92%

Year 1: 84.81%

Year 2: 94.62%

Year 3: 90.69%

Year 4: 92.90%

Year 5: 90.94%

Year 6: 98.46%

Minutes Late:

There has been an improvement in these this week so thank you to those who have made a concerted effort to get your children into school on time in the morning. This week we have had 167 minutes late (2 hours 47 minutes). This is still quite a lot of lost learning time and for a relatively small number of children. Letters will be sent out today for families with minutes late.

Clubs:

There is a new music club for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 starting after Easter (this will run twice to ensure those that didn’t make it the first time will have a go after May half term). If the club is successful then we will also look at running this for KS2 classes in September.

We are continuing to try and source some external providers for clubs so will keep you updated with this.

If there are any parents who would be interested in coming forwards to run a club (and have a particular specialism) please do let me know so that we can have a look at this and see how we could facilitate this at school (checks and DBS would need to be undertaken).

Parent Governor:

I am very pleased to announce that Emma King has been voted in as our new Parent Governor. Emma is a parent to a child in Year 3. We are very much looking forward to working with her to take the school forwards on its journey.

Shoes and jewellery

We have a number of children who are wearing lace up shoes to school who are not yet able to lace their shoes. Please only send your child in lace ups if they can lace them up themselves as staff are spending quite a lot of time lacing shoes for children at the moment. We are also continuing to have some children wearing rings/necklaces/hoop earrings to school. These are not allowed in school and children will be asked to remove them if they come into school wearing them. They will be returned to them at the end of the day. This is for health and safety purposes and is also not part of the agreed school wear. This is also follows ALL high school approaches to jewellery.

Music payments:

Many thanks to those of you who have paid for these after my email from last week. There are still a few outstanding payments. Please contact the office or Mrs Prattent if you would like some information or help with this.

Cake Sale:

Thank you all so much for bringing in so many amazing cakes to school to help raise money for the people of Ukraine. The PTA are busy counting up the money and I will let you know how much we’ve managed to raise on Monday. It was lovely to see such a brilliant turn out on such a warm sunny day!

End of term:

Don’t forget that we break up a week today for the Easter Holidays (Friday 1st April). School then returns on Tuesday 19th April 2022 for the start of the summer term.

Lunches:

Please see the attached menu for the summer term (when we return to school after Easter).

I think that is it for this week. I hope you all have a very lovely and well deserved weekend (it’s supposed to be sunny and warm before a spell of colder weather again next week!)

Take care

Sarah xxx
