At Spring Bank we believe in every child. We want every child to feel valued and inspired to develop physical literacy.
"Physical literacy is the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge, and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life."
We want our children to achieve success as they progress through each year group at Spring Bank. Physical Education is an important part of each child’s learning journey. We believe children should have the opportunity to access and experience a broad range of sport and physical activities that build resilience, aspiration and ambition.
We want all our children to leave school with an understanding of the importance of Physical Education and Physical Activity on their physical and mental health as well as their wellbeing and increase the chance of lifelong positive health and fitness choices. We want our children to:
Many children at Spring Bank have not had access to extra-curricular sport or physical activities outside of school, especially throughout lockdown. Through a carefully sequenced and progressive curriculum, we want children to learn the skills and knowledge to be successful in a variety of sports. We aim to increase cultural capital through a variety of extra-curricular sporting and physical opportunities. Our intention is to provide learning, experience and promote opportunities to help in restoring the development of physical literacy that may have diminished over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As an inclusive school, we ensure all children are included regardless of any SEND. We will use a host of adaptive strategies to ensure this for each individual based on their needs or barriers to participation and success in Physical Education.
