To celebrate World Book Week this week, our Key Stage 1 pupils were visited by Stephen Waterhouse, an illustrator and author, whose books include ‘My Pop-Up World Atlas’ and ‘The Runaway Chapati’.
Stephen showed the original artwork he created for his illustrations and his own books, and read a story too. He showed our students how to draw a character for a book, and drew an ice-cream, which one lucky student who suggested the idea received to take home! Everyone became illustrators with their own sheet of A3; he helped them draw food as characters, then themselves as characters and finally, the creature who could eat the Runaway Chapati at the end of the book. It was a wonderful interactive assembly!
